About
I am a sociologist, a Professor at the Department of Sociology at the University of São Paulo, and a research fellow at the Center for the Study of Violence and the Center for Artificial Intelligence (IBM-Sao Paulo Research Foundation). Previously, I was a Japan Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Yokohama City University and a visiting researcher at the University of Chicago. I hold an M.A. degree and a Ph.D. degree in Sociology. My research spans the Sociology of Knowledge, the Sociology of Memory, and the Sociology of Artificial Intelligence. I work with a multi-methods design by bridging qualitative methods (esp. narratives and in-depth interviews) and data visualization (esp. network analysis).
I have authored the book Sociology in Brazil: a brief institutional and intellectual history (Palgrave McMillan, 2019) and wrote chapters for the following books: The Risk Perception of Artificial Intelligence (Lexington, 2020), The Routledge International Handbook of Talcott Parsons Studies (Routledge, 2021), Automata’s Inner Movie: Science and Philosophy of Mind (Vernon Press, 2019), The History of Latin America after 1945 (Routledge, 2022), and Palgrave Handbook of Digital Everyday Life (2024).
